2009 Arizona Alzheimer’s Consortium Annual Conference

The Arizona Alzheimer’s Consortium has begun registration for its 11th annual conference designed to update patients, caregivers, family members, and scientists regarding progress in the fight against Alzheimer’s disease. Leading physicians, researchers, and scientists will make presentations at this free community service event that is open to the general public. Free buffet breakfast and lunch will be provided. Seating is limited.

Alzheimer’s disease is the seventh-leading cause of death in the U.S., afflicting one in 10 people over the age of 65. But researchers are making progress. Treatments are available that improve the quality of life for some people with Alzheimer's. Investigative treatments are being studied in clinical trials, and scientists have discovered several genes associated with the disease which may lead to the development of even more treatments. In addition, innovative techniques are available to help people caring for a loved one with the disease.
